Fortnite has updated their game once again with their usual Weekly Update. v8.40 will be live as there is a downtime, but players will be able to jump back into the game once the servers are back up. This update includes multiple new features and bug fixes, as well as new guns and items to use.

The first feature is the new Epic and Legendary version of the Infantry Rifle.

I covered this new gun in one of my previous posts, and now it’s finally out! This version of the Infantry Rifle will do a base damage of 42-44 damage, and can be found in Chest Spawns and Vending Machines, as well as Floor Loot.

Personally, I love the new look to this gun, and I most likely pick up this gun as it is now Hit-Scan (easy to track enemies). This will most likely be over-used as it is very Over Powered and will most likely be nerfed.

The next big part of the update would be the new Limited Time only mode: Air Royale.

This game-mode brings back airplanes, which was vaulted by Epic at the start of the season. To get loot, you need the plane you’re in to pass by a floating chest.

I most likely won’t play this game-mode because I think planes are just toxic to the game and will annoy me to the point where I don’t want to play the game at all. Epic, honestly, fix you’re game.

I like the Supersonic outfit, as it has 4 skins in one, with the base skin looking the coolest. Tender Defender came out some time ago, and is a silly skin, but I probably wouldn’t wear it because it is overall a dumb skin. The P.A.N.D.A Team Leader skin isn’t bad, but it’s just a re-skin of the Cuddle Team Leader, which makes it less rare. The Flappy Flyer glider is also a dumb glider, but it does fit with the Easter theme, and is animated, so that’s a plus.

12 months ago, the Solo vs Squad Console record was made at 38 kills. Just yesterday, Brazilian PS4 player, SlayLeo, was able to set the new Solo vs Squad Console Record at 41 kills, just 3 more than the original. SlayLeo posted proof of this 41 Kill game on YouTube, defeating the old record.

Honestly, whoever can get above 30 kills in a single game is very talented. Like personally, I can get a good high kill game, but 41 kills is far beyond me. I hope ill get a better skill set and maybe get something like this? Anyways back to the news.

The current World Record for Solo vs Squad on PC is held by Ghost Gaming’s Kamo with 46 kills

The current full squad record is 61 Kills by Fqrbes, Nexjs, Tacjc, and NadeXC.

Featured Item Shop

Personally, I Love the Skin design of Ark, but it does resemble Mercy from OverWatch by Blizzard Entertainment. Malcore is a great design to the skin, and i like the devil theme for it. The Evil Eye Pickaxe is not the best, it can do a lot better. The color scheme is too much and doesn’t give me the ‘feel’ of a “Bad Guy” or “Devil”. The Virtue Pickaxe is a good design on the other hand, with the little bit of fiery blue on the end of it. 

Overall, I really like the Angel Set, but not as much of it’s opposite set.

The first Fortnite update of Season 8 released today, with new mechanics, bug fixes, and a new test tournament for the community.

The community, including myself, already expected this update to feature the new ‘Buried Treasure’ mechanic and some tweaks to the audio for console players. The server downtime was earlier today at 4 a.m. ET, so streamers that live in the East are already learning how to play with the new features.

Epic Games, Creator of Fortnite, has finally revealed the game mechanic ‘Buried Treasure’, which is a legendary item. This feature allows players to see buried chests under the map, in which these chests contain “a trove of legendary loot”. Players will be allowed to hold only one of these in their inventory, and chests found under the map must be dug with the pickaxe.

Other tweaks include:

-Infantry Rifles and Clingers will spawn less often from floor and chest loot.

-Bottle Rockets have now been vaulted from all game modes (Battle Royal , Playground, and Creative).

Audio Tweaks Include: Assault Rifles are not overbearing on the shooter, Pickaxe sound is louder for enemies, and it is easier for players to recognize if enemies are above or below you when moving around.

I really like the fact that the infantry rifles are less in the game, because it is such a bad gun and doesn’t help when you’re starting off in a game. I also like that the bottle rockets are gone, because it was just a useless item that will just annoy people when they are camping or in a base.

This item shop is definitely not my favorite, especially that the Gold Digger pickaxe is 800 V-Bucks, the exact same price as both the Sunflower and Hayseed outfit. Overall, i do not like the farm theme for these skins.

Fornite Season 8 was released to the game on February 28, 2019, with a new location, skins, battle pass, and in game items. After the Season 8 update, the community, including myself, wait for the next weekly update that brings in new items to the game. The update should’ve come today, but since Epic Games did not announce that there will be any new update for today. The community suspects that the update will be announced later today, and that the update will come tomorrow.

The downtime for the game usually starts at 4 a.m. ET and lasts for about 2 hours. This patch will have maybe less of a downtime, since this update will probably be a small one. I, personally, don’t mind the downtime, since it starts a 4 a.m. The patch notes has had already some leaks for new items that will most likely come into the game.

The first item is called the “Buried Treasure Map”. Instead of it being a gun, it’s a map, which can possibly lead to some high tier loot, according to some theories. Honestly, I think that it is just like a Supply Drop.

This next image is theorized to be the Epic and Legendary versions of the Infantry rifle, as found by Stormshield One in the files of the earlier patch notes. I really don’t like the Infantry Rifle, so this will not make a difference to me because im probably not going to pick it up. The gun is overall a bad addition to the game, and im getting pissed that they Nerf-ed the rest of the actual GOOD guns.

This last image is the “Re spawn Van” that was hinted before the start of Season 8. It’s Official name is the ‘Second Chance Machine’ as it gives the players that have been knocked and finished, a second chance at the game. This mechanic is also in the rival game “Apex Legends”, which they have this in their game, but we still don’t know any inspirations for this new mechanic in the game.

I Feel like the re spawn van is going to be very annoying for players that has already died by someone else. Maybe they could only put a minimal amount of these vans in the game? Honestly, it will be very annoying and it probably will piss me off in the future.
